According to RIM, its BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone features 2.0 megapixel camera with digital zoom, Bluetooth, built-in flash and video recording; stereo Bluetooth support (A2DP/AVRCP) and 3.5mm stereo headset jack; internal QVGA 2.4-inch diagonal screen, 320×240 pixels and supporting 65K colors; 128MB of flash memory, 256MB microSD card included and support for up to a 16GB microSD/SDHC card.
The Wi-Fi-enabled BlackBerry also includes features such as text messaging, picture messaging and web browsing.
Mark Guibert, vice president of corporate marketing at RIM, said: The BlackBerry Pearl Flip takes the advanced features and refined usability that customers have come to expect from BlackBerry smartphones and makes them available in a friendly design. Whether they are sending text messages or e-mail, listening to music or simply making phone calls, customers are going to love using this phone.
Earlier in October 2008, RIM announced new developer tools for BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Pearl Flip phones. The developer tools include new versions of the BlackBerry Java Development Environment (BlackBerry JDE) that enable the streamlined development of mobile applications, as well as desktop simulators for the BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Pearl Flip smartphones.
Recently, Taiwan Mobile and RIM have introduced the BlackBerry Bold smartphone, which supports tri-band HSDPA high-speed networks, in Taiwan.
