T-Mobile USA, the US operating arm of Deutsche Telekom, has reported total revenues of $5.36bn in the second quarter of 2010, down marginally as compared to $5.34bn in the second quarter of 2009.

The company posted an operating income of $749m, a decrease of 15% as compared to $878m of the same period a year ago. Net income decreased by 5% to $404m from $425m.

Revenue from contract and prepaid services declined to $4.1bn and $382m from $4.2bn and $396m respectively, while revenue from roaming and other services, and equipment sales increased to $174m and $585m from $159m and $535m, respectively.

Total customers served declined by 93,000 in the second quarter of 2010 compared to 77,000 net customer losses in the first quarter of 2010, while customers using 3G-capable smart phones continued to increase significantly during the quarter.

René Obermann, chief executive officer of Deutsche Telekom, said: "T-Mobile USA soundly delivered on its aggressive HSPA+ network build out and roadmap execution in the second quarter; together playing a large role in driving strong data ARPU, as well as achieving contract customer growth and improved service revenue trends."
