SynapSense, a provider of wireless instrumentation platform, has launched Branch Circuit Monitoring, extending the PowerImaging product line beyond power metering in its data centre monitoring and energy management system.

SynapSense said that the combination of LiveImaging, its real-time data center thermal mapping capability and PowerImaging allows to monitor circuit and rack-level power which enables phase balancing and identifying locations within the data center that is suitable for increased density of new servers.

According to SynapSense, its rack power visibility for all circuits, together with power metering and environmentals provides customers with a tool for delivering a holistic view of all data center assets.

The company said that it is working with several customers to implement real-time DCiE (Data Center Infrastructure Efficiency) and PUE (Power Utilisation Effectiveness) in their data centers using customised integration services. These projects utilise power metering using the company’s wireless sensors and power meters from Square D together with integration of existing points from the building management system.

Peter Van Deventer, chief executive officer of SynapSense, said: “Our mission at SynapSense is to provide our customers with data center tools and technologies that deliver unprecedented visibility and continuous optimisation.

Having the right level of instrumentation allows our customers to tightly monitor and better provision server power, while seeing real-time changes to environmental conditions and air flow — all of which enable improved visibility, quantifiable energy savings and higher resiliency.”
