Swisscom has chosen the Verizon Business Professional Security Services team to help the business communications provider boost its security offer for companies headquartered in Switzerland. Verizon Business will help Swisscom develop a new security operations centre and a new security management centre.

The new facilities, which will be located in Zurich, and are due to become operational in January. The new operations centre will enhance the security services Swisscom is able to offer its local customers by providing a local facility to handle security incidents and alerts, Verizon said

In addition, the management centre will provide data centre capabilities to support the delivery of Swisscom’s portfolio of integrated communications security services.

According to Verizon, its security services team will provide planning, development and installation support, and select personnel will also work alongside and train Swisscom’s employees as the new facilities begin operating.

The company has established an alliance with Swisscom in May 2008 and offers Swisscom customers with multinational operations access to its network and services.

Urs Schappi, head of customer business unit at Swisscom, said: These new Swisscom facilities will significantly enhance the security capabilities currently available to Swiss multinationals in Switzerland, and provide a state-of-the-art forum from which we can deliver our own security services.
