Socialtext has released a new version of enterprise social software platform that offers microblogging channels and filtered activity streams to help people digest the information colleagues share with them, as well as new tools for group productivity.
The new version is available on all of Socialtext’s deployment options, including its on-site managed appliance, which offers the security enterprises need without requiring IT resources or developers to update and maintain the software. Microblogging channels and filtering are also available on the Socialtext Microblogging Appliance.
The Socialtext 4.0 includes Collaborative Groups feature that gives users the social software tools they need to circulate knowledge, ideas and updates among team members. It can be synchronised with existing groups in company’s LDAP or corporate directory and can be configured for privacy, the company said.
The company said that the enterprise microblogging tool Socialtext Signals enables users to filter the short messages colleagues share with them. People can post a signal to any group they belong to, or all of them. This capability is available on both browser-based interface or Desktop, the Adobe AIR application.
The new microblogging search provides the ability to browse and search new information resource, and also the ability to target search to messages from a specific group. The activity stream filtering functionality provides users the ability to view the activity stream of any group to which they belong and alternatively, one can view the activity stream of any individual, or of the entire company.
Eugene Lee, CEO of Socialtext, said: The focus of our enterprise social software has always been to accelerate business performance for our customers, by giving their people new ways to share knowledge and expertise.
“Socialtext 4.0 takes that an extra step forward. It allows people to circulate information, ideas and updates in a targeted way with teammates, so they can move quickly to take advantage of new opportunities.
