Sky's broadband customers have been hit by a large outage for the second time this month.

The outage affected customers in the South Midlands. Engineers were despatched to areas including Luton and Bedfordshire to conduct repairs.

According to downdetector.co.uk, recent reports mainly originated from London, Cannock, Manchester, Isleworth, Dudley, Glasgow, Birmingham, Westminster, Croydon, and Walsall.

The site says that complaints about Sky broadband peaked between 7 PM last night and midnight.

The issue was said to be resolved early on Wednesday morning, when Sky's customer service Twitter account wrote:

"South Midlands – Our customers should now be back online. Thank you for your patience, and apologies once more for any inconvenience caused."

This follows an incident on 2 August, when many of Sky's fibre customers across the country were impacted by an outage.

The network issue affected most of Sky’s fibre customers nationwide, the company said, including Sky Fibre and Sky Fibre Unlimited customers.

In July, one of Sky’s biggest rivals in the broadband arena, BT, was hit by two outages in as many days.

On 20 July, data centre provider Equinix claimed responsibility for a BT outage that led to around 10 percent of its customers experiencing problems with their internet connections.

The next day, some of BT’s customers found that internet services were once again not working as normal. Down Detector showed that the complaints peaked between 8 and 11 AM.
