According to the company, OpenScape Mobility brings together, from a single vendor, enterprise telephony, video, unified communications, wireless and fixed mobile convergence in a single integrated mobile unified communications solution.

The company said that the OpenScape Mobility is a new solution which combines Siemens HiPath MobileConnect, HiPath Wireless, and the new OpenScape Enterprise Mobile Client. OpenScape Mobility is part of the Siemens OpenScape Unified Communications Suite launched earlier in 2008.

HiPath Wireless enables the customers with 802.11n speed and Power over Ethernet (POE). With this Siemens can deliver its OpenScape HD Video over 802.11n, enabling portable HD Video units to be part of the overall mobility strategy.  Besides, HiPath MobileConnect, provides security for hotspot and tele-working users. It delivers value, drives down costs and extends corporate telephony features to mobile users on both the wireless and cellular networks.

Thomas Zimmerman, COO at Siemens Enterprise Communications, said: This is a critical step forward in the Siemens Open Communications strategy, which aims to provide enterprises with the twin competitive advantages of lower costs and greater speed through improved productivity, collaboration and responsiveness. Speed helps businesses to respond to customers faster and market opportunities more readily than the competition.

The OpenScape Enterprise Mobile Client, goes mobile with a new mobile client for RIM, Symbian and Windows mobile devices, enabling unified communications for the mobile worker. The OpenScape Enterprise Mobile Client works with the OpenScape UC Application Enterprise Edition Server, and the desktop client and voice portal to deliver users a wide array of access options while on-the-go.
