Open source software vendor Red Hat has announced the appointment of Phil Andrews as regional director for the UK and Ireland.

Andrews will be leading the sales and channels operations at the company, as Red hat hopes to build on recent success in the region.

Before joining the company, Andrews was business development director for data centre products at Cisco Systems and has also held senior level, EMEA-wide positions at network management technology companies System Management Arts and Aprisma Management Technologies, and UK director-level roles at Autodesk and Intermec.

He has over 20 years of IT sales and marketing experience.

Werner Knoblich, vice president and general manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “Phil is an important investment in our European executive team and we are delighted to have him on board as our regional director for the UK and Ireland.”

Red Hat’s current European customer base includes Specsavers, Learndirect, Scania, Avis Europe and NYSE Euronext.
