Quebecor World, a provider of print and advertising services, has enhanced its book publishing infrastructure with an Oce VarioStream 9210 continuous feed printing system, along with Oce PRISMAproduction software and Lasermax pre- and post-processing systems.
According to Oce, the monochrome and color-capable digital printer is used in the Dubuque, Iowa facility to generate books in cost-effective short runs for some of the book publishers. Quebecor selected the Oce VarioStream 9000 platform to improve image quality, uptime, and operational efficiencies.
The Oce VarioStream 9210 digital printer is expected to enable Quebecor to provide customers with enhanced graphic and halftone quality and will help Quebecor achieve growth objectives that require reliable and digital short-run publishing. Print volumes on the Oce VarioStream systems are expected to exceed 16 million pages per month.
Oce has said that its VarioStream 9210 digital book printing configuration includes a graphic arts controller, PRISMAproduction POD software to enable efficient workflow and TrueProof software to enable convenient online proofing.
Mal Baboyian, president of production printing systems at Oce North America, said: We are proud to partner with Quebecor World to help meet its book publishing customers’ needs and capitalize on its market leadership. The Oce VarioStream 9210 system has become the gold standard for digital book printers who want to cost-effectively print books in shorter run lengths with the image quality discerning publishers require.
