Oculus is planning to launch its virtual reality headset Rift early next year, in a partnership with Microsoft’s Xbox One gaming console.
The Oculus Rift, which will work on Windows 10, uses custom display and optics technology designed specifically for VR. The headset will feature two Amoled displays with low-persistence.
Xbox chief Phil Spencer said: "We believe we’ll be able to create state of the art virtual reality experiences with the Oculus Rift on top of Windows."
The headset features Oculus’ IR LED constellation tracking system for precise, low latency 360-degree orientation and position tracking.
It features a VR audio system and an internal microphone for social experiences.
The first Rift games include EVE: Valkyrie from CCP Games, Chronos from Gunfire Games and Edge of Nowhere from Insomniac Games.
Oculus said it will invest over $10m to accelerate and support in bringing innovative games to the Rift,
Microsoft’s alliance with Oculus is aimed at competing with Sony’s Morpheus and HTC’s Vive VR headsets.
The Facebook-owned Oculus has also introduced Oculus Touch, a pair of tracked controllers controllers that work with Rift games and apps.
