Internet Infrastructure firm M247 has opened a new data centre in Manchester to meet growing demand for server accommodation from business users.
The new facilities come with a 300 rack capacity and are supposed to improve efficiency and security for users.
M247, founded in 2003, said the new space will help meet the increased growth, which it puts down to improved demand from businesses for Internet solutions.
The opening of the data centre, which is next to M247’s head office in Trafford park, comes as M247 secures ISO 27001 accreditation, an internationally recognised standard for the measurement of data security.
Technical director Chris Byrd said many users come to M247 because of its green credentials.
"To us it’s always made good business sense to use our power efficiently. Escalating electricity costs represent such a high proportion of the daily overheads of any power-hungry data centre and getting these costs under tight control means that we have much more room than most to sharpen our competitive edge."
