Lockheed Martin has secured a $59.4m contract from the US Department of Labor (DOL) consolidate its data centres to increase energy efficiency.
Under the seven-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, Lockheed Martin will be responsible for moving DOL data centres to a secure data centre to increase efficiency and meet the Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative.
Lockheed Martin had previously moved a DOL data centre and has been providing IT services to the agency for more than eight years.
Lockheed Martin Energy Solutions vice president Frank Armijo said: "We understand that data center consolidation, cloud and other green information technology practices can help our customers save energy and get more out of their budgets."
The company said it has experience in providing energy efficient information technology (IT) services and offering as well as managing the consolidation and relocation of data centres of premier US agencies like Department of Energy, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Defense.
