LinkedIn has acquired a small content distribution startup Run Hop, based in San Francisco, to make its own content more interesting for users.

The startup, established in 2014, has been providing services which concentrate on tailored web content such as articles, videos and other content which is delivered to end-users based on their preferences and usage.

By acquiring this startup, LinkedIn wants to harness the talent of the founders in order to provide relevant content to LinkedIn users. Financial details about the acquisition have not been disclosed.

A LinkedIn spokesman told the Wall Street Journal: "We wanted the co-founders’ talent and expertise in content.

"It has long been a strategic priority for us, and we believe their knowledge and capabilities can help us accelerate the execution of our content road map."

At LinkedIn, Run Hop founders Pete Davis and Evan Soloman will take up the roles of senior product manager in content team and senior software engineer, respectively.

Pete Davis, as senior product manager will help in directing right content such as articles, videos and other posts and feed to LinkedIn users based on their preferences and usage.

In February 2016, LinkedIn acquired Connectifier, a tech-startup that helps recruiters hire new talent. Connectifier had built a search technology which draws on artificial intelligence. The search index has details of more than 400 million job candidates.

In its quarterly report earlier this week the company said: "In 2016, we have three priorities for our core hiring products.

"First, we will roll-out new Recruiter and Referrals across our existing customer base. Second, we will tie our existing products together into an easy to use suite – growing our potential to impact greater amounts of hiring with existing customers.

And third, we will begin our journey towards addressing long-tail hiring by making Recruiter simpler to use, and introducing automated sourcing to help SMBs and hiring managers find and acquire talent.

"The acquisition of Connectifier, announced this afternoon, will further strengthen our core products and accelerate our product roadmap, leveraging powerful machine learning-based searching and matching technology to help recruiters and hiring managers find the perfect talent fit."

In August 2015, LinkedIn had acquired Fliptop, a startup company that helps businesses increases their sales through data science and predictive analytics. Fliptop was bought by LinkedIn to boost its own sales solutions offering.
