Lenovo has announced a new set of servers, software and solutions for businesses which it claims can help in getting faster insights, simplify IT management, reduce the overall cost of ownership and maximise uptime.

Lenovo servers are powered by Intel Xeon processors which can handle complex tasks including virtualisation, database, high performance computing and high frequency trading workloads.

Lenovo offers one and two-socket rack and tower servers, integrated blade systems, dense High Performance Computing (HPC) systems, systems management software and solutions partnering with the best independent software vendors.

The new 1U single-processor System x3250 M6 rack server, based on the Intel Xeon E3-1200 v5 series processors, is designed to support infrastructure workloads such as email, file and print, as well as Retail Point of Sale, and remote office applications.

The servers’ portfolio has been enhanced to handle workloads both from small businesses and large organisations.

These server systems have been optimised for cloud, virtualisation, big data and analytics, claiming to deliver up to 44% greater CPU performance, 22% more cores, 12% faster memory, up to 23% faster Hadoop performance and up to 30% faster data encryption than previous generation of servers.

The refreshed servers include the powerful, highly reliable two-socket 2U System x3650 M5, System x3550 M5, ThinkServer RD450, RD350, ThinkServer TD350, Flex x240 M5, NeXtScale nx360 M5.

Apart from the server lineup, one of Lenovo’s offerings is XClarity. XClarity is a cloud based resource management software which can be easily deployed on servers.

It simplifies systems management with automated discovery, monitoring, configuration, updating and power usage optimisation. This software can be accessed from mobile devices and it can reduce the number of steps for deployment by 75%.

Lenovo Data Center Group vice president of server, storage and solutions, Madhu Matta said: "Our completely enhanced server and solutions portfolio empowers customers to accelerate their business decisions, maximize data center uptime, and simplify their IT management.

"With six new world records, Lenovo servers deliver faster performance than any competitor across virtualisation, database, HPC, and high frequency trading workloads.

"These speed gains, combined with enhancements to our powerful resource management tool Lenovo XClarity, enable customers not only to accelerate their system performance but also dramatically reduce their deployment and management time.

"Lenovo is committed to delivering purpose-driven innovation, choice and flexibility, and leading management and industry solutions to our customers while providing a phenomenal experience."
