Lenovo and Juniper Networks have formed a global partnership to develop next generation data centre infrastructure solutions.
The partnership targets enterprise and web-scale customers as it looks to create next-gen converged, hyperconvereged and hyper-scale datacentre infrastructure solutions.
The cooperation builds on Lenovo’s x86-based servers and switches and Juniper’s portfolio of routers, switches, network management software, network security products and software-defined networking technology.
Customers will be allowed to buy Juniper’s networking products directly from Lenovo as a result of the partnership.
Lenovo and Juniper will work together on disaggregation of hardware and software in the data centre to deliver open, flexible solutions to market, based on the Open Network Install Environment (ONIE) model.
In addition, the companies will collaborate to deliver simplified management and orchestration in the data centre using Lenovo’s xClarity management software and Juniper’s Network Director and Contrail SDN software.
The new offerings will be provided globally to enterprise customers, service providers, channel partners and system integrators via a joint go-to-market model, including a tailor-made resell model for the Chinese market.

The partnership expands Juniper’s strategy to deliver a full-stack solution for a range of data centres, from the mid-range enterprise to private cloud and to hyper-scale customers.
Cisco, Dell and Hewlett Packard Enterprise are already providing converged, hyperconverged and hyperscale systems for the data centre.
Juniper Networks CEO Rami Rahim said: "We are excited about collaborating with Lenovo to leverage the full power of our IP-networking portfolio based on JunosOS and Contrail, in delivering the next generation of converged, hyper-converged, and hyper-scale solution to customers in China and globally."
Last month, Lenovo announced a global roaming service which enables its users to access wireless service across 50 countries.
The Lenovo Connect service works across devices, networks and borders in China and EMEA regions.
