Enterprise-class data center infrastructure management (DCIM) offerings provider iTRACS and Intel have signed a new partnership agreement to enable a new level of energy efficiency in the data centre.
The two companies have joined forces to extend the visibility, reach, and analytics capabilities of iTRACS PowerEye, where iTRACS PowerEye is a strategy that offers end-to-end visualisation and management of the entire power chain inclusive of all interdependencies, across IT, Facilities, and Building Management Systems.
In addition, the iTRACS and Intel partnership transcends limited targeted operational metrics like PUE.
Under the agreement, the Intel Data Center Manager software suite will be integrated with iTRACS Converged Physical Infrastructure Management (CPIM), expanding the iTRACS PowerEye strategy through the collection, management, and analysis of power, temperature, and environmental information at the device level (CPU).
Extending iTRACS PowerEye with Intel’s capabilities improves the capacity planning and increases rack densities using actual CPU power and temperature readings; identifies and consolidates energy-guzzling assets; and identifies and eliminates under- or over-cooling issues.
The integration also accelerates the commissioning of new equipment using actual energy usage; and prevents outages from occurring by identifying and resolving power circuit outages and overloads, data centre hot spots, and cooling failures.
