Intel has signed an agreement to buy the assets of US-based Mindspeed Technologies’ wireless infrastructure business for an undisclosed amount.
The move follows the agreement and plan of merger of Mindspeed Technologies with M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings.
The transaction is expected to close in February 2014 and is subject to satisfaction of various closing conditions.
Mindspeed chief executive officer Raouf Halim said, "We are excited that our wireless infrastructure business is being incorporated into Intel."
Intel Communications and Storage Infrastructure Group vice president and general manager Rose Schooler said in a blog post,"Through this acquisition, Intel will gain a wireless infrastructure team with deep experience in delivering signal processing-related technologies and IP for base stations."
Mindspeed Technologies provides network infrastructure semiconductor systems for the communications industry.
The company’s low-power system-on-chip (SoC) products are used to drive video, voice and data applications across fiber-optic networks and enable advanced processing for 3G and long-term evolution (LTE) mobile networks.
