Intel has reported non-GAAP revenues of $13.1bn for the second quarter in 2011, up 22% year-over-year compared with the revenues in the same quarter last year.
The company has posted an operating income of $4.2bn in Q2 2011, up 6% year-over-year compared with $3.98bn revenues in the same quarter in 2010.
The net income of the chip maker increased by 10% year-over-year to $3.2bn in Q2, an increase of $290m from the previous year’s same quarter.
The surge of mobile devices and Internet traffic fueling data centre growth, and the rapid rise of computing in emerging markets contributed to the growth in the second quarter, according to the company.
On a GAAP basis, the company reported second-quarter revenue of $13bn, operating income of $3.9bn, net income of $3bn, and earnings per share of 54 cents.
The company generated approximately $4bn in cash from operations, paid cash dividends of $961m, and used $2bn to repurchase 93 million shares of common stock.
Intel president and CEO Paul Otellini said Intel’s 23% revenue growth in the first half and their increasing confidence in the second half of 2011 position them to grow annual revenue in the mid-20% range.
The company also said that the acquisitions of McAfee and Infineon Wireless Solutions (now Intel Mobile Communications) contributed revenue of $1bn in their first full-quarter of results.
Intel is expecting $14bn (plus or minus $500m) for the third quarter in 2011, which excludes certain acquisition-related accounting impacts.
