At800.tv, the organisation responsible for gauging the impact of 4G LTE signals on TV reception, will start tests in London next week.
The tests will be carried out by launching 4G LTE signals across 170,000 homes in South East London: they have been warned that their digital TV signal could be disrupted.
The disruption of TV signals could happen because of the proximity of the 4G LTE signal frequencies, around the 800MHz band, with the digital TV signals frequencies in the 700MHz band.
During the earlier tests conducted on over 22,000 homes in the Midlands, just 15 homes complained they were affected.
At800 chief executive Simon Beresford-Wylie said that these larger tests are essential to help improve the company’s forecast model and the way it will tackle potential issues caused by 4G at 800MHz. "We are extremely grateful to viewers in south-east London for their help with these important tests," he said.
The company has asked the users to report any disruption.
