Idea Cellular, a mobile operator in India, has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to supply equipment, and build and manage its HSPA networks in four circles – Uttar Pradesh (East), Uttar Pradesh (West), Kerala and Haryana, in India.
Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will supply its Flexi Multiradio Base Stations, mobile packet core and mobile backhauling including FlexiPacket microwave radio, which will be deployed in five circles.
In addition, it will also supply unified network management, monitoring and optimisation based on its NetAct system and provide network implementation, project management, care and maintenance services.
Nokia Siemens Networks said that its next generation Operation Support Systems (OSS) will provide Idea Cellular with the required flexibility to meet new customer demands.
Idea Cellular chief technology officer Anil Tandan said their goal is to empower their subscribers by offering a reliable 3G mobile network that provides high-quality experience of voice and data services.
