Huawei, a provider of next-generation telecommunications network offerings, has extended its partnership with BT, by providing several access products to support BT’s Openreach division in deploying new fibre network.

Huawei said that its SingleFAN (fibre access network) offering is based on an open and unified platform, which will enable Openreach to reduce operation and maintenance costs.

The SingleFAN offers a future-proof platform for communications providers using Openreach network to roll out multi-play services to residential and business customers.

In addition, BT is planning to spend an additional £1bn on its next-generation broadband network to bring super-fast broadband to two-thirds of UK households by 2015, subject to an acceptable environment for investment.

Openreach CEO Steve Robertson said that Huawei’s efficient optical access and transmission technology will provide the company’s CP customers with an ability to offer high-bandwidth services and an improved broadband experience to customers.
