Huawei Technologies has asked its former partner Motorola to stop the sale of its wireless network unit to Nokia Siemens.
The Chinese telecom equipment provider has filed a law suit in a US court asking it to stop Motorola employees and information associated with Motorola’s UMTS and GSM equipment businesses from being transferred to Nokia Siemens Networks.
The company claimed that it had provided the phone maker with $878m worth of equipment and technology for wireless networks that it had developed.
Nokia Siemens’ $1.2bn purchase of Motorola’s wireless network business, therefore, amounts to an illegal transfer of Huawei’s intellectual property, said the company.
Huawei also said that the deal would cause harm to its business interests as Nokia is its competitor.
