HP has introduced a new service that allows its Halo customers to use their telepresence endpoints to reach contacts, including employees, partners and suppliers, at one time.

The new Halo Webcasting expands the company’s unified communications and collaboration portfolio, reportedly offering customers choice in implementing services that meet their needs.

The company has realigned the Halo business within its ProCurve Networking business. It expects that this move would provide customers the opportunity in choosing the right video endpoints, services and network systems that would allow collaboration within their organisations.

Ken Crangle, vice president and general manager of Halo business unit at HP, said: “Customers looking for integrated unified communications and collaboration solutions that include endpoint technologies, network management and comprehensive services can turn to HP. Together, these developments and offerings are aimed at helping customers reduce operating costs, lower demands on IT staff, extend their reach and facilitate better business outcomes.”

The company said that its new Halo Webcasting allows customers to produce webcast content, live and on demand, from their Halo telepresence endpoints and then stream the content to employees or external audiences worldwide. It enables webcast attendees to see and engage with spokespeople webcasting from Halo locations. Presenters can go to their Halo studio and use existing Halo cameras to record a video presentation or to participate in a live video event, reducing the costs associated with travelling to a TV studio.

The company informed that all Halo endpoints, including the Halo Collaboration Studio, Halo Meeting Room and Halo Collaboration Centre can be used to conduct the webcasts.
