Telecommunications firm Hi3G has signed a contract with telecommunications equipment and network applications provider ZTE to deliver the next stage of the LTE infrastructure network rollout for Hi3G in Sweden as ZTE builds out the operator’s LTE TDD/FDD dual-mode network.

The contract extension will enable ZTE to deliver the SDR-based infrastructure equipment to upgrade the operator’s 3G network in Sweden.

The Hi3G network delivers a mix of FDD-LTE 800MHz and UMTS 900MHz services across southern Sweden, with TDD-LTE spectrum also being used in areas of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo.

The extended network will enhance the network performance of Hi3G and help Hi3G to reach a larger capacity of subscribers with improved services.

The network roll out also enables Hi3G to reduce its total cost of ownership by adopting a whole new generation of green energy-saving base stations.

ZTE Europe and America president Zhu Jinyun said the agreement is an extension partnership between the two parties following the previous agreement signed in March 2011.

"This agreement further strengthens both our companies’ positions in LTE in Europe," said Jinyun.
