Harris has installed seven Nexio AMP advanced media platforms for Spanish broadcaster Television de Galicia as part of its project to extend digital transmission capabilities.

The installation was managed by Broadcast Meditel, a dealer for Harris in Spain. The Harris Nexio AMP media platforms with file transfer protocol (FTP) capability were installed at the Television de Galicia (TVG) head office in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

The servers will be used to support on-air transmission channels and will be interfacing with the installed Harris ADC automation system, creating ingest and playout workflows.

According to Harris, its system will allow TVG to expand its transmission area to 14 inputs and 28 play channels, allowing all media to be acquired and stored centrally to supply multiple channel services to multiple users.

The installation also includes five Harris Nexio AMP Logo channel-branding media application licenses that will be used to embed logos into programs while on air.

Antonio Posse, engineering director of TVG, said: We chose Nexio AMP because it provides us with a powerful and reliable server platform and represents an important evolution from our legacy Harris server technology. Features such as automatic up/down/cross conversion for complete format transparency, integrated channel branding and the compatibility of the servers with the multiple software systems in our environment were some of the key factors in our decision. We are also confident in the Nexio AMP server’s ability to easily scale as we grow our operations in the future.
