Genband, a developer of IP infrastructure offerings, has unveiled Interconnect Solution that enables interconnection of fixed and mobile traffic between any IP or TDM network.

The company said that the new offering utilises IP media and session border control platforms to reduce costs, expand markets, and interwork with peering and managed interconnect services such as the IP eXchange (IPX).

According to Genband, the new offering provides support for TDM to TDM, IP to IP, and IP to TDM signaling and media interworking. It facilitates policy enforcement, reporting, and routing, under a single management umbrella, and simplifies management and enhances service visibility.

In addition, the new offering provides support for interfaces such as C7/SS7, BICC, SIP-I, H.323, and Nb/Nc. The flexible architecture allows for scalability by providing both integrated and decoupled signaling and media interworking options, as well as multimedia transcoding and codec support.

The company said that the new offering enables both existing and greenfield operators to cost-effectively connect to peering networks such as GSMA’s IPX. It also enables the interworking of traffic between GSM and non-GSM operator networks, TDM-based fixed and mobile networks, and SIP-based VoIP and multimedia networks from a single vendor.

Mehmet Balos, chief marketing officer of Genband, said: “With our Interconnect Solution, operators are able to cap or replace their legacy TDM networks yet interconnect and route traffic on an any-to-any basis, which simplifies and future-proofs their networks. Our solution also encourages revenue growth by allowing operators to expand their network capabilities and services, as well as extend their brand across new market segments and geographies.”
