The French telecom sector is one of the most advanced in the world both in terms of the available infrastructure and the competitiveness of its market, according to Pyramid Research.

The research firm states that the maturity of the market translates into steady growth rates and considerable opportunities in sectors, such as broadband, mobile data and pay-TV services.

The study, entitled "France: Operators Promote Innovative Content to Drive Data Adoption offers a macro view of the country’s telecom, media and technology sectors.

Pyramid Research analyst Ewa Romaniuk-Calkowska said pressure on ARPS pushes operators to move competition beyond pricing and seek innovative ways to differentiate their offers.

"One way is aiming to attract customers who love new gadgets with a wide array of subsidised and customised devices; value-added services is one area that should be of particular interest to operators because it allows them to differentiate their offerings, increase customer loyalty and gain new revenue streams," Romaniuk-Calkowska said.
