Facebook has been working on a planning application to build a €200 million data centre in Meath, Ireland.
The social media network is seeking permission to build a 200,000 sq ft facility, which could employ up to 100 people.
The company has already started the hiring of data centre electrical engineers to possibly work at the hub.
Facebook is the latest company to expand its data centre services in Ireland, after Apple unveiled expansion plans worth over a billion Euros.
Apple said it would be investing €850 million to build a data centre in Galway, ready to operate in 2017.
The iWatch company also closed a second deal with IDA and the Irish Government to double the size of its operations facility in Cork, investion €700 million.
Facebook will also be spending a further €400 million to power its data centre-to-be. Microsoft and Google have also announced plans to build data centres in the country’s capital region.
