After revolutionising the way people liked pictures and posts, Facebook is coming up with a new button that will allow users to express more emotions.
Speculations started about a potential ‘dislike’ button, with Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg confirming the new button during a question-answer session at company headquarters.
According to Zuckerberg, not every moment is a good moment and the new button will allow users to show their respect to posts that cannot be liked.
He added that Facebook is "very close" to having the button ready for user testing.
Zuckerberg added: "I think people have asked about the dislike button for many years. Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it."
In 2014 Zuckerberg said that a ‘dislike’ button is not likely to be introduced in Facebook and added by saying, "That isn’t what we’re here to build in the world."
He stood by the statement by saying: "We didn’t want to just build a Dislike button because we don’t want to turn Facebook into a forum where people are voting up or down on people’s posts.
"That doesn’t seem like the kind of community we want to create."
