Application Delivery Networking (ADN) service provide, F5 Networks has introduced BIG-IP 4200v hardware platform which claimed to simplify complex application services, increase web content security, and lower the cost of managing applications.

F5 Networks said the new appliance will help mid-sized enterprises facing high traffic volumes, cloud computing companies and service providers, support the consolidation of IT services.

Enhanced SSL processing capabilities of the hardware platform is expected to help customers improve security as well as increase server capacity and reduce overall systems costs, the company said.

F5 Networks Core Traffic Management and Cloud Solutions vice president Jason Needham said with the versatile Application Delivery Controllers in the platform, customers can perform a number of valuable IT functions in the network

"The 4200v is a purpose-built hardware device with the processing power to support multiple application delivery services, offload SSL processing, and efficiently scale on a unified solution platform," Needham said.

"With competitors, organizations would need to deploy multiple point products to add ADN services, further increasing infrastructure complexity and costs."

The company claimed that the ADN platforms can support different types of IT environments — including traditional data centres, cloud resources, and virtualisation applications.

4200v comes with 850,000 layer 7 requests per second enables it make intelligent decisions based on business policies, such as inspecting application payloads and removing confidential information.

The company claimed that its ability to process more requests per second will help in meeting demand for traffic management, security, and optimisation of mid-sized enterprises and organisations supporting multiple applications and services.

The platform can reduce the amount of data through compression technologies to optimise applications, especially in an environment where there is limited network bandwidth.

Since it can offload compression from application servers with dedicated hardware, the 4200v platform can cut server load and reduce the need of additional servers to scale IT services, the company claimed.
