India-based mobile services operator Idea Cellular has signed a three-year agreement for Ericsson to provide it with managed services in five circles: Mumbai, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, North East and Assam.

The agreement enables Ericsson to manage network and field operations, operation and maintenance activities for 2G and 3G sites, network design and planning, network performance improvement, and programme management for infrastructure.

Ericsson will also focus on ensuring better network availability and customer experience from Idea’s 2G and 3G mobile networks.

Ericsson has been developing its ICT competence at its Indian Global Service Center (GSC),which will play a key role in managing Idea’s network.

Idea Cellular managing director Himanshu Kapania said the alliance with Ericsson will enable Idea to optimise its networks and deliver improved services to the customers.
