Equinix has completed the purchase of Digital Realty’s operating business in Paris for €189,750,000.
The purchase of the Paris site, which currently houses Equinix’s PA2 and PA3 International Business Exchange data centres, furthers Equinix’s corporate strategy of acquiring assets in order to invest in customers and business ecosystems in key operating markets.
The deal will see Equinix add approximately 1,000 cabinets of sold capacity to the 5,000 cabinets already held by the company in PA2 and PA3, along with the space for expansion for a further 1,000 cabinets in order to support customer growth. Commenting on the purchase of the dense interconnection site, which houses a core node of the Equinix Internet Change, Equinix CEO and President Steve Smith said:
“We believe that by fully owning the site of our PA2 and PA3 facilities and the surrounding land, we will be able to ensure additional capacity and the ability to interconnect more networks, clouds, people and data, as customers require in the future."
Providing Equinix with significant carrier and cloud density, the purchase of the entire Paris site will enable Equinix to optimise network performance and deploy hybrid cloud, as well as providing access to over 160 network service providers and more than 100 cloud service providers in Paris.
