Epitiro, the broadband communications authority, has launched ISP-I WiMAX Drive Test for network operators and Govt. Regulators. The new mobile functionality links WiMAX network test results with GPS location information to provide an understanding of performance throughout geographical areas.

According to Epitiro, the ISP-I WiMAX Drive Test is suitable for planning mast placement and identifying ‘not-spots’ in target areas as it provides real-time RF information, IP-based service delivery metrics such as throughput speed, FTP, HTTP, jitter, latency, loss and voice quality scores including ITU P.862.1 MOS with GPS test location information.

Epitiro said that, it offers ISP-I system as a managed service to cover both subscriber pre-deployment testing and in-life monitoring. It enables operators with performance views of other networks including WiMAX and 3G/HSPA services enabling comparisons in context of the overall market.

In addition, its browser-based reporting is expected to allow users to see real-time test results of both their own and other networks.

The company said that the ISP-I system provides GPS-enabled service quality measurements using operator-provided CPE with integrated support for USB and RJ45 data connectors and ATA/RJ11-based voice call support.

The company claims that the measurements of the hardware are not affected as the hardware is ruggedised, vibration resistant, EMF protected and has a wide safe operation area range (SOAR) to handle extremes in temperature.

JP Curley, CTO of Epitiro, said: ISP-I WiMAX Drive Test accurately determines voice and data service levels for all operators across a designated area. As an extension of ISP-I, the de facto industry standard, the new WiMAX Drive Test solution gives operators and regulators a location-based test capability backed by a proven system for benchmarking and network management.
