Emulex has rolled out Lpe12004, a new quad-channel Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) with four 8Gb/s ports on a single board.
Emulex said that by enhancing the board capacity for its LightPulse HBAs, it provides end users with the increased performance required to support enterprise applications that require more bandwidth and a connectivity for new data centres.
According to Emulex, the LPe12004 is suitable for high-bandwidth, slot-limited servers, virtual tape libraries (VTLs), storage arrays and tape libraries. It supports both initiator and target mode usage on a per port basis and maintains backwards compatibility with existing 4Gb/s and 2Gb/s Fibre Channel SANs and is equipped with a Service Level Interface (SLI), which enables driver compatibility across all Emulex HBAs.
The company said that the LPe12004 is the new member of the LightPulse family of 8Gb/s HBAs which provide customers with a range of capabilities including: enterprise scalability through support for Message-Signaled Interrupts eXtended (MSI-X); and common driver model, which allows a single driver to support all its HBAs on a given operating system.
