EE has announced that its 4G network has grown to now cover over three quarters of the UK population.
The operator has revealed that 300,000 people in 13 towns across the UK can now benefit from its superfast mobile network, including the Oxfordshire town of Witney, home of the constituency of the Prime Minister David Cameron.
The launch brings the number of UK towns and cities able to enjoy EE’s network to 263, alongside 2,500 villages, and means that the operator’s network coverage tops the 75% mark.
"The arrival of EE’s 4G mobile services in Witney is a huge boost for local companies and people living in the area," David Cameron said.
"Now the latest generation of mobile technology has arrived, Witney is now an area where it is even more attractive to live, to work and to do business. The arrival of 4G makes this part of Oxfordshire one of the best connected areas in the UK."
Alongside Witney, the network will now be available to EE customers in Buckingham, Burntwood, Chesham, Chesterfield, Dalkeith (Scotland), Glossop, Hertford, Rugeley, Sheerness, Thornaby-on-Tees, Ware, and Wickford.
"4G is now a well-known and well understood technology, with businesses and communities increasingly demanding 4G coverage because they see the significant economic benefit," said EE CEO Olaf Swantee.
"Our fast, nationwide rollout continues, with hundreds of new sites being switched on every month to bring 4G to more places, often giving people a fast broadband experience for the very first time."
EE revealed last month that its 4G network now has more than 4.2m subscribers across the UK, a figure it expects to grow to around 6m by the end of the year.
It was recently ranked as the best performing mobile internet service in Britain by industry observer RootMetrics, with customers also reportedly enjoying better calling and texting performance than rival operators.
