Edgewater Networks has launched EdgeMarc 4610W Network Services Gateway, which provides up to four T1/E1 wide area networking (WAN) ports, a 10/100Mbps ethernet WAN port and an integrated 24 port 10/100/1000 Mbps Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch. It also features 6 FXS, 2 FXO ports, 2 USB ports and a V.90 modem for out of band management access.

The company said that the new offering is suitable for SIP trunking services as it provides PRI, native SIP and analog connections to enterprise PBX and key systems. It allows service providers to connect to a range of enterprise communications systems using a single product. The 4610W PRI support includes a voice compression capability that enables enterprise customers to replace standalone PRI links with converged VoIP and data WAN services.

For Hosted PBX services, the EdgeMarc 4610W features an integrated IAD, a 24 port in-line PoE switch for direct connections to IP phones, integrated PSTN gateway ports for local survivability and an 802.11 wireless access point. This offering simplifies installation and ongoing management by integrating multiple functions into a single system, the company said.

According to Edgewater, the new offering combines routing and switching infrastructure into one device to simultaneously reduce the complexity and upgrade the performance of branch office networks. In addition, the 4610W is compatible with the EdgeView VoIP Support System and supports multi-link, bonded T1/E1 services and provides an ethernet WAN interface for support of metro ethernet environments.

The 4610W also uses VOS software that provides features for service providers including VoIP aware stateful packet inspection firewall, QoS, local survivability, passive call quality monitoring, active line VoIP testing and compatibility with Networks EdgeView VoIP Support System, Edgewater said.

David Norman, CEO of Edgewater Networks, said: “The EdgeMarc 4610W is a single, flexible system that can be used for enterprise branch office connectivity, SIP trunking or Hosted PBX services. At the same time, the 4610W delivers significant cost savings for distributed enterprise applications by providing a simple way to upgrade branch office networks to support converged voice, video and data communications.”
