Diodes, a manufacturer and supplier of application specific standard products within the broad discrete, logic and analog semiconductor markets, has added 8 devices to its single channel power switch product line.
The company said that the AP23x1 and AP21x1D high-side, current limited power switches are optimised for use in self-powered and bus-powered USB2.0/3.0 and other hot-swap applications such as portable computing, smart phones, and consumer entertainment. They provide complete channel protection offerings for the current range from 0.5A to 2.0A.
According to Diodes, the 2A rated AP2301 (active low enable) and AP2311 (active high enable) offer an improvement in on-resistance at just 70m? and an extended choice of industry standard packages, including the new space-saving 8-leaded DFN3x3. The devices’ short circuit response time of 2µs helps prevent spurious system shutdown or restart and improves system robustness.
The company claims that the AP23x1 power switches ensure accurate current limiting at a maximum of 2.85A and help reduce power rail requirements and overall system cost. The AP21x1D series power switches offer current ratings of 0.5A, 1.0A and 1.5A, and both polarities of enable input.
In addition, the single channel power switches provide protection for applications exposed to the risk of heavy capacitive loads or short circuits. They provide reverse current blocking, over-current, over-temperature and short-circuit protection as well as controlled rise-time and under-voltage lockout functionality, the company said.
