Demand Media, a distributed social media company, and CoveritLive, a live social event software company, have formed a strategic partnership to offer the tools that enable new original programming for the web to the brands and publishers that currently make up Demand Media’s customer base. Demand Media is also making a strategic investment by securing a minority interest in CoveritLive.

CoveritLive is used by online publishers and bloggers to create live events around topical interests while engaging experts and audience participants. Demand Media’s enterprise social media platform, Pluck, powers community interactions on the consumer media and sites.

Under terms of the agreement, the companies will integrate their software application – enabling CoveritLive implementations to connect with those of Pluck. In addition, Demand Media will market, resell and service the joint products to enterprise customers, to simplify their social media efforts.
