Mobile operators depend on mobile data services and smart pricing to drive the mobile communication market in North America, as they have started offering these services that run over next-generation wireless networks and devices, according to a Frost & Sullivan analysis.

According to the 2010 North American Consumer Mobile Communications Outlook analysis, penetration of mobile services in North America will reach 100%, duly backed by the broad range of connected devices.

The report said that current penetration rate is 88%, and it further found that the data subscribers will cross 355 million by 2014.

The research firm noted that more than 60% of North American mobile subscribers use text messaging regularly, and the usage of smart phones has also contributed towards the increase of data usage on the mobile networks.

The new analysis notes that to increase average revenue per user (ARPU), mobile operators must concentrate on factors including, content lineup, service pricing, quality of service and customer care.

Vikrant Gandhi, industry analyst at Frost & Sullivan, said: "Today, subscribers rely on wireless services for their communication, entertainment, and information requirements on-the-go.

"Text messaging has also evolved as an important medium for communication, primarily because it can be used in a wide range of scenarios and it is extremely cost-effective especially when used as part of a data plan."
