Google has introduced an update to Chrome which reduces battery usage by pausing flash content.

The company has been working with Adobe for making the user’s experience on the web more smoother and power-efficient.

The new feature will automatically pause bits of Flash content that are not central to the webpage and allows central content to play without interruption.

Users can resume playback if their interested topic is paused accidentally.

Google software engineer and power conservationist Tommy Li said in a blog post, "Adobe Flash allows web pages to display rich content — but sometimes that can put a squeeze on your laptop’s battery.

"This update significantly reduces power consumption, allowing you to surf the web longer before having to hunt for a power outlet."

The new feature will have default on Chrome’s latest desktop Beta channel release. It can be accessed shortly by everyone on Chrome desktop.

Google plans to roll out more power improvements in the coming months.

Last month, Google added 25 solutions to its Cloud Launcher which it released in March. The company has also expanded the capabilities of its Cloud Logger with the beta of Cloud Logging Connector.
