China Mobile and SK Telecom have reportedly agreed to collaborate on content, platform and networking technologies for mobile phone games for Mainland China.

The South China Morning Post reported, citing SK Telecom’s China unit president Oh Se-Hyun, that the two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding in March.

Under the agreement, the new project will be undertaken by China Mobile’s unit in Jiangsu. SK Telecom is expected to provide Android based mobile games from its ‘T Store’.

"The Chinese mobile game market currently centers on Java-based feature phones. Beginning this year, smartphone games will see a rapid expansion," SK Telecom said.

Se-hyun said, "This agreement will pave the way for Korea’s quality game content to advance into the Chinese market."

"We will actively cooperate to help China Mobile grow into a global game player. The two companies will continue to expand cooperation in the machine-to-machine field, too," he added.
