UK department store House of Fraser has signed a seven year outsourcing deal with Capgemini, who will provide management of data centre services, applications support and development, service desk, desktop support and third party services.

The deal will also include network services, which will be provided by Capgemini under a sub contract agreement.

House of Fraser hopes that the deal will give it greater access to a wider range of IT skills and capabilities and a more cost-effective IT support operation. The department store is also expecting procurement and financing benefits.

“House of Fraser is one of the most famous and prestigious names in UK retail, and I am delighted that they have chosen us for such a comprehensive range of services,” said Greg Hyttenrauch, CEO of Capgemini Outsourcing UK.

House of Fraser, founded in Glasgow in 1849, currently operates 62 stores across the UK and Ireland. It employs around 6,500 people and its annual sales total over £1.25bn. Its flagship store is on London’s Oxford Street.

Capgemini’s most recent quarterly financial results revealed revenue of €1.95bn, down 7.3% on the same period a year earlier.
