The implementation of BYOD policies and rise in malware threats are expected to boost mobile security services market to $1.88bn in 2013, according to a new report.
ABI Research report revealed the number of unique mobile threats rose by 261% within two quarters and complex malware is benefiting from a range of mobile operations to exploit weaknesses on the device and in the network.
The report warns the organisations that allow BYOD policies and with no required mobile device management capabilities face risks from covert interception and corruption.
ABI Research cyber security senior analyst Michela Menting said: "Isolated and standalone security solutions will work for the individual consumer, but for organizational applications and carriers, mobile security services will take the lead."
In addition to simple security applications, the demand for particular services has been driving the mobile security market, while network security, managed and professional services are anticipated to be the biggest group for business-to-business mobile security.
Further, bundled network security which comprises unified threat management, deep packet inspections, virtual private networks, and remote device management are projected to gain importance.
The markets that are responsible for mobile security growth are aiming at services for mobile device, identity and authentication management, in addition to audits, certification, and consulting.
Additionally, the market will provide important opportunities for vendors aiming mobile network operators as well as businesses, the report said.
