BT’s network has been hit by its second outage in as many days as another internet connection partner suffered a power failure.

Customers logged on to find that internet services were not working as normal. The website Down Detector showed that the complaints peaked between 8 and 11 AM.

BT attributed the problems to Telehouse North, a Docklands-based partner of BT suffering a power failure.

It said that traffic was being redirected to reduce the impact. At the time of writing, BT said that the issue was affecting less than 5 percent of customers.

“We’re sorry that some BT and Plusnet customers are having problems connecting to some internet services this morning,” said BT’s statement.

Telehouse blamed the tripping of a circuit breaker affecting a specific group of customers within the building.

“The problem has been investigated and the solution identified. Our engineers are working with our customers on the resolution right now,” said a statement from the company, which added that updates would be released “in due course.”

Yesterday, data centre provider Equinix claimed responsibility for a BT outage that led to around 10 percent of its customers experiencing problems their internet connections.

BT issued apologies to its customers, who experienced major problems with broadband as well as banking services.

Once again, the issue focused on the Docklands. It occurred at a former site of Telecity, a data centre company that was acquired by Equinix in May 2015, derailing a merger with the Netherlands-based Interxion to create one of the world’s largest data centre companies.

Down Detector statistics showed that the peak for reports of outages was between 7 and 10 AM.

“Some BT Broadband customers have reported problems accessing websites this morning. Sorry, we're aware of a problem & working to fix asap,” the BT Care account tweeted.
