Brocade has unveiled a set of new HP-branded Brocade 8Gbps Fibre Channel data centre and server connectivity products and a virtualisation solution bundle.

The new offerings include, the Brocade 804 8Gbps Fibre Channel HBA for HP c-Class BladeSystem, the HP StorageWorks P2000 G3 Modular Smart Array (MSA) Virtualization SAN Starter Kit, and HP StorageWorks B-series Data Center SAN Director 64-port 8 Gbps Fibre Channel Blade.

According to Brocade, the new 8Gbps Fibre Channel mezzanine card extends fabric services to the server and applications and integrates with management software such as HP StorageWorks Data Center Fabric Manager (DCFM).

The 8Gbps Fibre Channel HBA supports Server Application Optimization (SAO) to extend data centre fabric technologies to the server infrastructure, provides storage connections for all HP ProLiant server blades and is compatible with the 8Gbps Brocade SAN switch, as well as HP’s Virtual Connect Fibre Channel modules.

The new Brocade and HP end-to-end 8Gbps Fibre Channel bundle consists of an 8Gbps P2000 G3 FC MSA storage array, six 8Gbps HP StorageWorks B-series host bus adapters (HBAs), two 8Gbps HP StorageWorks B-series Fibre Channel switches, as well as two Brocade-based software licenses per switch that enable SAO and Brocade Adaptive Networking.

In addition, the new 64-port 8Gbps blade increases port density by more than 33% to 512 ports per chassis and up to 1536 ports in a three-chassis configuration, allowing customers to build NxG SANs and support the growing demands of server virtualisation, Brocade said.

Tom Joyce, vice president of marketing at StorageWorks Division at HP, said: "Clients are looking to increase efficiency in the data centre by virtualising storage, server and networking resources.

"HP StorageWorks and HP BladeSystem solutions coupled with Brocade 8Gbps Fibre Channel products help organisations improve performance by creating an integrated, scalable and virtualised IT environment."
