The Business Performance Innovation (BPI) Network has announced a campaign, ‘Transform to Better Perform’, which will explore IT trends and business imperatives that could shape the future of data centres and evolving hybrid IT models.
The programme includes a portal, ReinventDataCentres.com, where visitors can contribute their ideas, participate in ongoing conversations, access original and aggregated content, download new reports and whitepapers, and become a part of important surveys and polls.
According to BPI, the boom of mobile technologies, cloud computing, social networks, the internet, and other developing technologies has led to rapid growth in new applications and data, which has created opportunities for new technology as well as created market disruptions.
BPI highlighted that nearly 90% of the world’s data centres were created during last two years, and that the Global data centre traffic is also expected to triple between 2012 and 2017, from 2.6 zettabytes to 7.7 zettabytes.
It also mentioned that Global technology spending is likely to exceed $3.8tn in 2015.
Investment on data centres is expected to grow from $185bn in 2015 to $203bn in 2016 while two thirds of all computing workloads will be processed in cloud data centres by 2017.
The Transform to Better Perform programme is aimed at creating a global conversation about the transformation which is critical for businesses, governments and other organisations worldwide.
