Boole & Babbage Inc, Sunnyvale, California has been having a very active time of late, making two acquisitions and signing a new distribution agreement, and signing two development agreements. It has acquired Elan Software Products Inc, specialising in systems for running operations automation software on a connected outboard computer, to further its strategy of supporting automated data centre operations, and with Elan gets software that creates a workstation that can extend and complement the functionality of the Boole & Babbage AutoOperator product line. Boole & Babbage has also acquired Mission Computer Services, which provides mainframe bureau services on a time-sharing basis. On the distribution front, it has acquired distribution rights in France and West Germany for the Aion Development System expert system shell from Aion Corp. And it has signed a development agreement under which it will work with staff from Chevron Information Technology on development of Network Advisor, an expert systems-based product to provide on-line diagnostics for SNA networks, detecting network components out of service and determining how to restore them. And consultancy Suitable Alternatives is to enhance and support the Boole & Babbage CICS Manager product for the IBM DOS/VSE environment. Boole & Babbage markets its products internationally through the European Software Co, The Asian Pacific Software Co, Distributed Data Processing, and a distributor in Japan.
