Bitrix, a provider of business communications offerings, has introduced D.I.G. technology, a search engine developed for enterprise intranets and websites that enables data search in texts, media content and documents with ranking, sorting and display.

The company claims that the new search engine, available in its Intranet Portal and Site Manager, implements an idea thorough digging and smart display. When searching for a specific string, the technology enumerates texts, media content and documents while looking for morphological stems and considering their density.

Bitrix said that its new search engine comes coupled with the original Bitrix compression technique and provides up to a 10-fold increase in performance, especially for comprehensive queries. It provides support for Microsoft Office, OpenOffice.org and Adobe Acrobat documents and enables connection of third-party file parsers for search in specific formats.

According to Bitrix, the new technology is in compliance with corporate data security policy and provides search results filtered with respect to users access rights before being displayed. It offers manual or automatic data indexing, making content searchable right after its submission. In addition, it supports AJAX-powered interactive pages, provides taxonomy service with automatic tag cloud generation, allows making Google Sitemap, as well as a user-specific search form design.

The technology covers English, German and Russian and enables connecting of other languages with third-party stemming tables. It enables users to create search queries using query language, inclusion/exclusion masks and logic operators, as well as choose specific site sections for a targeted search, Bitrix said.

Yury Tushinsky, CTO of Bitrix, said: Information is a gateway to new business opportunities, while information retrieval is a key to this gateway. We are proud to present our perfected search technology and provide customers the ultimate tool for fast and accurate locating of required data across an organisation’s digital assets.
