Bewan, a developer of unified IP and 3G network products, has rolled out the iBox C5200, a new multi-play cable gateway product designed to enable cable operators and multi-service operators (MSO) to deliver broadband speeds and media-rich services to subscribers.
Bewan said that the new C5200 product is an EURO-DOCSIS/DOCSIS 3.0 wireless eMTA residential gateway design that is based on Texas Instruments’ Puma 5 family of DOCSIS 3.0 products.
According to Bewan, featuring a 4-port gigabit ethernet switch and an IEEE 802.11n wireless access point that meets the encryption requirements (WEP, WPA/2), the new c5200 product offers all the functionalities of a wireless residential or SoHo cable modem. With its built-in PacketCable 1.5 compliant specification, the new C5200 product integrates a cable modem to implement directly VoIP phone calls through the cable modem broadband services.
Other features include: single USB port that enable operators to offer local or remote file sharing and printer accessibility; Bewan HomeCenter that enable users to organise files into photo albums and video libraries; and GUI interface that help customers and technical support teams to perform network diagnostics.
The new C5200 gateway product supports the SNMP protocol that allows operators to manage and update their installed base remotely. It also supports the TR-069 that manages and controls the digital home certified accessories and applications for the control of operator’s value added services offering, the company said.
