Belkin, a manufacturer of wireless networking, desktop and mobility accessories, has unveiled new Wi-fi and desktop phones with built-in Skype for the Indian market. The specialty of these phones is that they allow users to make cheaper calls without having to turn on their PCs. These phones allow users to make free calls to other Skype users and make ISD calls at a cheaper rate, the company said.

These phones allow users to store 500 Skype and Skype Out contacts. Other features of the phones include call pickup/park, muting, call hold/release, redial and call-timer display. The new handheld phone also features auto-list import, call history and clock.

The new handhelds are capable of functioning only at Wi-fi spots and does not require browser-based authentication whereas, the desktop phone requires the user to be in the broadband connection coverage area.

The company said that these phones also feature an in-built TFT screen, provide sound clarity and wireless security through WEP and WPA-PSK. Both the phones do not require a USB cable and are capable of receiving wireless software updates.

Both Belkin Skype phones are available and priced between INR7,000 and INR10,000. The company is reportedly providing few of its users with 30 Skype Out minutes and one month of free voice mail.
